Party Mix- Microwave

  • INGREDIENTS:
    • 2 cups of Cheerios (make sure you get the non-honey nut kind!!)
    • 1-2 cups of pretzels (either the twists or the sticks)
    • 4-5 cups of Chex cereal (any and all kinds are good!)
    • 1-2 cups of Cheez-its (I love the cheez-its!!)
    • 1 cup of nuts
    • Seasoning:
      • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter melted
      • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire
      • 1-2 tsp Lawry’s seasoning salt
      • Optional additions: 1 teaspoon of garlic or onion salt
    • OPTIONAL ADD-INS: Bugles, bagel crisps, Rye chips
  • DIRECTIONS:
    1. In a microwave safe bowl, combine all the dry ingredients – your Chex, Cheerios, Cheez-its, nuts, and pretzels.
    2. In a different microwave safe bowl, combineĀ butter, Worcestershire and seasoned salt. Microwave until the butter is melted – this takes less than 2 minutes! Make sure to watch to make sure it doesn’t explode.
    3. Drizzle butter mixture over Chex mix. Microwave for about 8 minutes – stir every 2 minutes. You will know you are done when Cheerios and Chex look brown. You may have to cook longer or shorter depending on your microwave and type of bowl you used to make it in!
  • TIPS: If you like a “bold” flavor (I do) – double the amount of seasoning and Worcestershire. It is SO good.
  • Pros: This is the best snack. I love it. You can make a bunch at once, and then have it for your snack throughout the week!
  • Cons: It is packed with sodium. It is not healthy. It is delicious though, and awesome to share with others! It also requires some diligence and monitoring.
  • Oven instructions: 250F, stir every 15 minutes for at least an hour until the Chex are browned.
